It takes courage to grow in such a thicket of thorns! The courage doesn't last for long: These cacti flower only for a few days.

Desert jungle

Cacti are accustomed to being the only inhabitants of the desert. But when it rains, once every ten years or so, short lived soft plants overgrow them. The cacti just wait. Before long, the quick invaders will be gone, and again the thorny soldiers will hold watch alone.
